Feedback conference – Water Cycle & Climate Change (CECC)

The conference to present the findings of the Water Cycle and Climate Change (CECC) project will be held from 24 to 28 November 2025 at Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD II) in Dakar, Senegal. This scientific and institutional event will bring together researchers, water managers, development partners and public decision-makers to discuss the challenges of adapting water resources to climate change.
Organised by the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD) with the support of the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and several academic and institutional partners, including OiEau, the CECC conference presents the results obtained since 2021 in the fields of hydro-climatic modelling, flood monitoring, land use analysis, hydraulic structure management and the production of decision-making tools.
Thematic sessions, workshops, demonstrations and field visits will provide an opportunity to review four years of work carried out in West Africa and the Andean region, with a common objective: to provide water stakeholders with methods, data and tools capable of improving risk and resource management in a context of climate change.
The detailed programme includes:
- a presentation of the CECC portal, which brings together data, models and tools developed as part of the project;
- sessions dedicated to hydro-climatic hazards (floods, droughts, urban flooding);
- work on surface and groundwater resource models;
- methodological and operational workshops;
- a section devoted to science-society dialogue.
OiEau, represented by Mr Christophe Brachet, Director of ‘Africa’ programmes, will open the conference and, on Thursday 27 November, will take part in a session dedicated to operational tools, where he will present the results of the DYNOBA project.
