Institutional support
Institutional Support is one of the pillars of integrated water resources management. It can be defined as the sharing of institutional, technical and scientific best practices around water management.
OiEau has been providing assistance and advisory services for more than 30 years, in France and worldwide, and always centred on the general interest, helping its partners to improve their own governance, and to build the local organisation, management and operation capacities necessary for the effective exploitation and protection of their water resources. The association also supports the development of discussion networks and partnerships to help various stakeholders better specify their requirements, design appropriate responses and build collaborative relationships that harness the full range of available expertise.
OiEau forges institutional partnerships as part of bilateral or multilateral projects with governments, basin organisations, regional or local authorities and water service management institutions in the public and private sectors. These cooperative relationships aim to promote collaborative, partnership-based water management practices across river basins through the sharing of skills and expertise.
OiEau provides assistance as part of institutional and/or organisational reforms in the water sector, with a particular focus on:
- integrated water resources management, the implementation of basin management and the application of EU directives
- management of water-related data, including support in setting up water information systems at all levels, from local to international
- public service performance improvement and capacity-building.
