Missions & Themes

In the areas of water and aquatic environments, biodiversity, the circular economy, the small and large water cycles, and climate change adaptation, OiEau’s mission is to:

  • Facilitate discussions between decision-makers, designers, administrators, operators, industrial companies, manufacturers, trainers, researchers and users, to deal with all questions, coordinate their actions and share information.
  • Develop the capacities of French and foreign public and private organisations, in particular through continuous and vocational training.
  • Conduct projects and common and collective interest programmes to meet the demands and needs of the French water sector and the “International Water Community.”

OiEau exercises its missions:

  • Worldwide, through cooperation on different continents.
  • In Europe, to promote a concerted approach to the question of water resource management and aquatic environments, across the continent.
  • In France, to support the skills, mandates and work of various public and private stakeholders.

Over the past 30 years, OiEau has extended its work into new areas of expertise. In doing so, it has been at the forefront of the expanding body of water-related environmental challenges, helping to address ever-changing needs – now and into the future.
