International networks
Since its inception, OiEau has helped to build and facilitate networks of stakeholders with varied profiles and operating at different levels, in Europe and worldwide.
OiEau seeks to adapt to the specific requirements of each of these networks, in order to foster their development and maximise their strategic, institutional, legal or technical impact.
Some examples of networks in which OiEau is involved: INBO, SEMIDE, AMEC, RICFME, etc.
INBO
International Network Basin Organizations
OiEau helped to set up the International Network Basin Organizations and serves as its permanent Technical Secretariat. OiEau ensures the smooth functioning of its bodies ( Liaison Bureau and General Assembly), coordinates and publishes the annual newsletter, thematic manuals, (etc.), manages its website and Twitter account (@INBO_RIOB), and organises events and working sessions in conjunction with network members and partners (UNECE, WMO, UNESCO, European Commission, etc.).

EMWIS
System on know-how in the Water sector (EMWIS) network
OiEau, together with Spain and Italy, was behind the creation of the Euro-Mediterranean Information System on know-how in the Water sector (EMWIS) network, which has become the main forum for sharing information and knowledge on water in this region. OiEau provides permanent technical and political support through organisational and financial management of its unit, and by facilitating institutional exchanges between member countries of the Union for the Mediterranean.

Global platform of pilot basins
The global platform of pilot basins is a joint initiative of UNECE and the INBO that builds on the commitments made on climate change adaptation at basin level. OiEau helps to coordinate the platform and experience-sharing, in order to foster the pooling of best practices and to develop, monitor and promote climate change adaptation projects within basins.
GAfWaC
Global Alliances for Water and Climate
As part of the Global Alliances for Water and Climate (GAfWaC), OiEau helps to identify climate finance development projects and bring them to maturity. Thanks to OiEau’s expertise and methodology, the various stakeholders involved reached a consensus and projects have emerged around key themes such as climate orientation (adaptation and mitigation) and the link between basins as cities as key stakeholders in the fight against climate change.
