Published on 12/19/25

As part of its international outreach and continuous improvement initiatives, Ningbo Water Environment Group Co., Ltd., a state-owned group based in Ningbo Municipality (Zhejiang Province, China), paid an official visit to the International Office for Water (OiEau), a French organisation that is a global leader in water resource training and management.

This visit is part of the Chinese group's desire to better understand European and French water management models, which are recognised for their performance, technological innovation and long history of excellence.

Ningbo Water Environment Group: a global player in the water cycle

Ningbo Water Environment Group Co., Ltd. is responsible for the comprehensive management of the water system in the city of Ningbo, which has a population of nearly 10 million. Its scope of activity covers the entire water cycle (raw water supply, production and distribution of drinking water, treatment and reuse of wastewater, water pollution prevention and control, water resource management and flood control facilities).

The group is also involved in solid waste management, municipal infrastructure, the development of smart water solutions, research and development, and consulting and investment in the environmental sector.

OiEau: a recognised centre of excellence

During this visit, organised by the Demos / Wedong group, the delegation from Ningbo Water Environment Group particularly praised the quality and richness of the International Office for Water's facilities at its training sites in Limoges and La Souterraine.

OIEau's training centre attracted particular attention due to its comprehensive and exhaustive nature, covering a wide range of expertise related to water and sanitation management, and accessible to all professional profiles (operating agents, project owners, engineers, managers and administrative staff from water services).

The group was particularly interested in the processes deployed to deal with new pollutants in drinking water treatment and the impacts of climate change (drought, flooding).

OIEau's teaching facilities stand out for their highly practical approach, with equipment that faithfully reproduces real-world conditions, enabling students to develop skills that are directly applicable in the field.

A source of inspiration for international cooperation

The Chinese delegation emphasised that France has world-leading companies and institutions in water treatment, backed by advanced technologies and decades of experience.

OiEau is therefore a key player in knowledge sharing, training and the dissemination of best practices on an international scale.

For Ningbo Water Environment Group Co., Ltd., this visit is a major source of inspiration for improving the technical and operational management of water, strengthening the skills of professionals in the sector, and promoting sustainable cooperation between Chinese and French players.

This potential collaboration paves the way for strong synergies between China and France, promoting smart, sustainable and resilient water resource management that responds to current environmental and urban challenges.
