OiEau Training Centre - The Pumping and hydraulic regulation bench platforms have been given a makeover!

Published on 08/26/25

The Pumping and Hydraulic Regulation Bench platforms at the OiEau Training Centre have recently undergone extensive restructuring, which was necessary after more than 45 years of use.

Located in the technical hall of the Limoges site, they are used to showcase the different types of pumps that professionals can use in the field, and to power the hydraulic and booster control benches.

Pump characteristics, cavitation, priming, booster operation, control modes, speed variation, malfunctions, maintenance and fault diagnosis are just some of the topics that can be addressed and covered using these facilities.

The Pumping platform uses a tank to which surface pumps and submersible pumps are connected. One of the submersible pumps supplies the bench dedicated to regulation standards. During this project, a new pump was selected and custom-designed for our platform to replace the old model. Its main feature is that it can operate with a low water level in the tank.

In July, the pump was installed and work was carried out on the tank: cleaning/dredging to remove sludge, replacement of corroded parts of the piping, installation of new supports for the floor, which now consists of a resin grating.

The hydraulic regulation bench has been significantly modified to provide greater comfort and improve the conditions for practical work carried out on the installation:

  • polyethylene pipes have replaced stainless steel pipes for quieter operation and reduced corrosion;
  • the height of the workstations has been lowered for greater comfort during handling;
  • two additional lines have been created, allowing for more students to be accommodated, as well as a greater number of devices to be presented;
  • finally, new devices have been installed to allow trainees to work on a wide range of devices that they are likely to encounter in the field.

True to its commitment to maintaining the high quality of its training courses, whether catalogue or à la carte, in particular by enabling learners to carry out practical work on installations in real working conditions and in complete safety, the OiEau Training Centre now has high-performance, water-efficient equipment with improved reliability and long-term maintenance.
