Attend the Explore2 and LIFE Water&Climate project feedback seminar on 28 June 2024!

Published on 04/05/24

Join us on 28 June for the feedback seminar for 2 projects on water management in the face of the impacts of climate change, in which OiEau is a stakeholder: Explore2 and Life Eau&Climat.

Since its creation, the Office International de l'Eau (OiEau) has supported and assisted various profiles (local authorities, industrialists, operators, etc.) in the implementation of institutional and technical actions, at all scales in France and internationally, to respond to their water management issues.

Thanks to its expertise in setting up and running projects, OiEau is active in more than 80 countries, implementing services and actions adapted to integrated, sustainable water management, in order to meet the challenges of climate change.

In particular, OiEau is involved in two projects on climate change and water resource management: LIFE Water&Climate and Explore2. As these two projects are coming to an end, a joint feedback seminar entitled " Keys to tomorrow's water management " will be held on Friday 28 June 2024 in Paris.

This will be an opportunity to learn about the hydroclimatic projections produced by the scientific community as part of these projects, and to understand how these results can be used toadapt water management to climate change.

For those commissioning studies on water resources, researchers, water agencies, consultancies, etc. this event is for you!

To take part, either face-to-face or remotely, register now here (in french)!

In the meantime, find out more about these two projects and their various outputs:

LIFE Water&Climate

Coordinated by OiEau, the LIFE Water&Climate project was launched on 1 September 2020 and brings together more than 14 scientific and regional partners. The aim? To help those involved in the local management of water resources to assess the effects of climate change on their territory, to take them into account in their planning and to implement adaptation measures. This project has been designed to meet the needs of those involved in local water management, and is based in particular on the data produced as part of Explore2.

You can consult the Drias-eau portal (in french) to view hydrological projections, the guide to mobilising local players (in french) to lead and boost local mobilisation actions, the tool for diagnosing vulnerabilities (in french) to climate change for local water management, and many others.

You can find all the products produced as part of the project here.

Explore2

The Explore2 project began in July 2021 and will run for 3 years. It is being led by INRAE (for the scientific part) and the International Office for Water (for the user support part). It follows on from the pioneering Explore 2070 study (2010-2012).

Explore2 shows the evolution of natural surface and groundwater resources over the whole of the 21st century in mainland France, produced by a French scientific consortium. Above all, the aim is to enable managers and political and financial decision-makers to make informed decisions in terms of adaptation planning and taking concrete action.

This is why Explore2 wanted to strengthen consultation with the users of the results. OiEau is supporting two user committees, set up to obtain a representative sample of all the potential users of the scientific results in mainland France. Work is also being carried out with stakeholders in the French Overseas Territories to identify their needs in terms of hydro-climatic projections.

Finally, the project proposes to facilitate the appropriation, understanding and use of these results, in particular by making available to users a MOOC coordinated and produced by OiEau, which will be accessible free of charge from 17 June 2024.

All the reports are available here (in french).
