In person

Join us from Tuesday 25 May to Friday 28 May 2027 in Brussels (Belgium) for the 23rd Euro-RIOB International Conference, hosted by RIOB, the Flemish Environment Agency (VMM) and the Wallonia Public Service for Agriculture, Natural Resources and the Environment (SPW ARNE).

This event will focus on the strategic implementation of the European Union’s water directives at the level of national and transboundary river basins. Structured around plenary sessions and interactive workshops, this conference provides a forum for in-depth discussion on the contemporary challenges relating to the conservation and management of water resources.

The discussions will address key issues for the future of water policy. Central themes include the roll-out of nature-based solutions, the optimisation of environmental data management, and the essential fight against emerging pollutants. Managing water demand and adapting to climate change will also be key areas of discussion, as will the crucial role of river basin organisations in crisis prevention and management, ensuring water security and strengthening European sovereignty.

Designed as a dedicated forum for cooperation, this event will bring together a broad community of institutional stakeholders, including representatives of European Union Member States, senior officials from national and regional administrations, river basin governance bodies, and all stakeholders directly involved in the implementation of the Water Framework Directive (WFD) and related policies.

Finally, to ensure inclusivity and the smooth flow of international discussions, all proceedings will be supported by simultaneous interpretation in French and English.
