Will the state of drought become a common situation? Discover the interview of Sophie Comte, guest of the 6/9 of France Bleu Limousin

Sophie Comte, Coordinator of the OiEau Information and Knowledge Unit, was Alain Ginestet's guest on France Bleu Limousin's 6/9 on Wednesday 1 March. Will drought become a common situation in Metropolitan France? This is the question that is being asked with this winter water shortage.
If we go back to 1900, among the 10 driest years in France, 8 are after 2010. Sophie Comte reminds us that we will have to change our habits and simply adapt to climate change.
In this interview, she describes the steps to take to save water, as it is important to underline that at the moment, 5 French departments are already under drought alert. We all know these steps, but perhaps we were not aware of the urgency to apply them.
According to her, the French people will perhaps follow their water consumption better, just as they were able to follow their energy consumption this winter, which will allow leaks to be identified more quickly.
Every year a national water survey is carried out and the latest version of the French water barometer shows that more than 57% of French people say they are ready to act on their water consumption. If we think ecology, we also think economy, because reducing water consumption will allow us to reduce our bill, even if it is likely to increase.
Alain Ginestet ended the interview by adding that the International Office for Water should be requested even more in the coming months to set up actions, notably to raise awareness. Sophie Comte added that it is indeed the role of the OiEau to disseminate water management skills to various audiences in France and abroad.
