OiEau raises awareness of water protection among major groups

In July 2023, Dimitri Meunier, Director of Data, Knowledge and Information Systems at OiEau, took part in the RoadShow organised by Colas, a global player in the construction and maintenance of transport infrastructure, in Poitiers. OiEau, a public interest organisation with environmental protection accreditation, supports all stakeholders in improving water management in France and worldwide.

The aim of the RoadShow was to raise awareness among Colas employees of the challenges of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and reducing the company's carbon footprint. OiEau was invited to present a plenary session on water management.

During this plenary session, OiEau discussed the different water cycles and uses, the major issues and some solutions. The focus was on OiEau's complementary skills in training and knowledge processing. Numerous figures and maps were provided and a live quiz was organised on smartphones.

Water is an essential resource for life, but it is also a limited resource. The availability and sharing of water will increasingly be at the heart of discussions to satisfy all uses in the world. Transport, storage, treatment and the natural flow of water will be key drivers of development in the years ahead.

To meet these challenges, OiEau is proposing concrete solutions, in particular:

  • Reducing consumption of water and fossil fuels
  • Increasing the production of carbon-free energies
  • Increasing green and soft mobility
  • Reducing waste and pollution
  • Increased agro-ecology and water reuse

This collaboration between OiEau and Colas is a concrete example of the importance of mobilising everyone to manage water more responsibly.
