Human Rights Day: access to water is a fundamental right since 2010 !

Human Rights Day is celebrated every year on 10 December to mark the anniversary of one of the world's most important commitments: the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
As a ‘ common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations ’, this document represents a global blueprint for international, national and local laws and policies, as well as one of the pillars of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Access to water has been a fundamental right since 2010, when the United Nations adopted a resolution recognising that ‘the right tosafe drinking water and sanitation is a human right, essential for the full enjoyment of life and the exercise of all human rights’.
OiEau is committed to ensuring access to drinking water and an efficient sanitation system, in particular to achieving SDG 6, which aims to ‘ensure access to water and sanitation for all and ensure sustainable management of water resources’:
- By participating in the implementation of actions at different levels (from local to cross-border) thanks to our Technical and Institutional Support & Cooperation;
- By facilitating the sharing of information, tools and experience on common themes, thanks to our expertise in coordinating stakeholder networks;
- By collecting and processing data that can then be used as a genuine decision-making tool, thanks to our Data & Information Systems expertise;
- By enabling nearly 6,000 people each year to improve their skills in a wide variety of areas, including drinking water and wastewater treatment, thanks to our Training & Educational Engineering expertise.
