Aquatic Biodiversity Letter - March 2024 - The otter is back

Published on 04/03/24

The March issue of the "Aquatic Biodiversity" newsletter has been published.

In the spotlight this month : the otter is back.

In the Vienne, in the Camargue, in Normandy, in Brittany, on the banks of the Loire, the otter, the symbolic animal of our rivers, is back!

This semi-aquatic animal has been covered by a second national action plan since 2019. The otter is a fragile animal, vulnerable to habitat degradation. To protect it, facilities such as benches under bridges are being created. Notice boards indicate its presence.

Find out more about this mischievous, playful animal in our Une.

And don't forget, World Otter Day is on 31 May!
