The project in brief

The project aims to support the implementation of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in the Bandama pilot basin through the elaboration of a Development and Management Plan in a concerted and legally robust manner.

Four fundamental "pillars" of IWRM will be the subject of work, at the pilot scale of the Bandama upstream and at the national scale:

  • The improvement of governance and consultation processes between stakeholders,
  • The consolidation of planning mechanisms and tools,
  • Sustainable IWRM financing mechanisms,
  • Management and organisation of water data.

OiEau's missions

  • Development of an information system for IWRM, geo-referenced and accessible online,
  • Analysis of the legal and institutional framework,
  • Mapping of stakeholders in the basin,
  • Elaboration of a SAGE type document,
  • Preparation for the creation of a Basin Committee at the upstream Bandama level, as a prelude to the setting up of a Bandama Water Agency.
