The project in brief

This cooperation programme between Brazilian and French water agencies aims to provide technical support to the two pioneering water agencies in Brazil (the Association for Water Management of the Paraíba do Sul Basin - AGEVAP and the Piracicaba, Capivari and Jundiai River Basin Agency - PCJ Agency): to provide useful skills to the managers and executives in charge of integrated water resources management and drought and flood prevention, and to contribute to the adaptation to climate change.

OiEau's missions

  • Institutional organisation (functioning of Basin Committees and Water Agencies and their institutional relations, articulation between interdependent basins and capacity building of stakeholders in the Water Resources Management System),
  • Development of basin plans (water security, plan development and implementation process, project management units and mobilising agents),
  • Definition of a monitoring and information system for decision making (basin observatories, collaboration between partners and institutional integration),
  • Search for sustainable financing (financing and pricing tools for water use),
  • Other cooperation actions to be agreed upon.
