REPHY-TOX platform for monitoring algal toxins in shellfish
The project in brief
With a view to public health and food safety, shellfish sampling and toxin testing are carried out by the LDAs (Departmental Analysis Laboratories), under the responsibility of the DDIs (Interministerial Departmental Directorates) and the Ministry of Agriculture. As part of the REPHY and REPHYTOX networks, marine phytoplankton and phycotoxins in farmed and wild shellfish are subject to regular, scheduled official monitoring. The results of the analyses are compiled in weekly bulletins covering the entire metropolitan coastline, i.e. 18 sectoral health bulletins covering different geographical areas.
The REPHY-TOX web platform is designed to collect the results of this monitoring, transmitted by laboratories in near real time. It enables:
- the collection of test reports from departmental analysis laboratories and Ifremer's environment and resources laboratories;
- analyse the compliance of formats and samples;
- produce weekly reports for fishing professionals, citizens, etc.
This platform is a complementary decision-making tool for issuing closure orders for shellfish production areas displayed on the Atlas of French shellfish production and relaying areas.
OiEau's missions
- Development and maintenance of the platform,
- Verification of data produced by laboratories based on Sandre standards (including the EDILABO and QELI exchange scenarios),
- Provision of decision-making tools to authorities for the management of shellfish production areas,
- User support.
