The project in brief
This project aims to improve the socio-economic and environmental living conditions of the people of Pointe-Noire inhabitants by improving flood management and solid waste management. It should make it possible to:
- Better manage flood risks and reduce the number of unsanitary areas, particularly in precarious neighbourhoods;
- Strengthen the capacity of municipal services to manage rainwater, wastewater and solid waste;
- Improve hygiene and sanitation conditions for the population, while combating gender inequalities;
- Strengthen hydrological knowledge at the national level and related services.
OiEau's missions
The purpose of technical assistance and project management support is to help the National Hydrological Service (SHN) to:
- Ensure the proper implementation and monitoring of the design, construction, operation and maintenance related to its reinforcement;
- Support project management and end beneficiaries in developing the SHN's skills and ownership of the project;
- Report on the progress of the project and the results achieved to the Congolese Government, the French Development Agency (AFD), the funder, and other stakeholders in the sector.
