Visit to OiEau by Côte d'Ivoire's Minister of Water and Forestry
On 28 February, OiEau welcomed Mr Laurent Tchagba, Minister for Water and Forests of Côte d'Ivoire, accompanied by a delegation, to Paris. The French Ministry of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion (MTTECT) was also represented.
A high-level delegation representing Côte d'Ivoire and France met at OiEau headquarters in Paris to discuss the crucial issues involved in managing water resources.
Mr Laurent TCHAGBA, Côte d'Ivoire's Minister of Water and Forests, accompanied by representatives of the Ministry, regional organisations and the Ivorian Embassy in France, met Dr Eric TARDIEU, Director General of OiEau, and a delegation from the French Ministry of the Environment.
These exchanges provided an opportunity to discuss a series of subjects crucial to water resource management and cooperation efforts and prospects. The minister also expressed his wish for Côte d'Ivoire to be involved in the activities of the International Network of Basin Organisations (INBO), for which OiEau provides the Permanent Technical Secretariat.
Since 2021, OiEau has been involved as the technical operator of a partnership associating the Ivory Coast Ministry of Water and Forests (MINEF) and theLoire-Brittany Water Agency(AELB), in a project on the upstream catchment area of the Bandama river. The aim is to develop joint actions in the field of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM).
As part of this project, the Loire-Bretagne water agency received the Minister for Water and Forests from 21 to 23 February for a visit based on sharing experiences.
