REUSE in French industry: Interview with Marc-Yvan Laroye in L'Usine Nouvelle
Marc-Yvan Laroye, Sales, Marketing and Communications Director at OiEau, was interviewed by the magazine L'Usine Nouvelle for an article on the management of water stress by French manufacturers.
How are French manufacturers coping with water stress and reducing their use of water resources? Marc-Yvan Laroye, Director of Sales, Marketing and Communications at OiEau, answered the questions asked by L'Usine Nouvelle magazine in an article published on 5 June 2023.
Over the last two decades, industrial water consumption has fallen by around 30%, largely as a result of the sector's efforts to use water more sparingly.
OiEau, an association recognised as being in the public interest, supports industrial companies in their efforts to make better use of water resources in the face of the risks posed by climate change and to encourage savings in water use, through its 4 areas of expertise.
In particular, OiEau is training the industrial sector in the Reuse of Treated Wastewater (REUSE), a solution that several players in the food industry are turning to for secondary uses. "We've optimised the process so that we don't have to wash every time we change production," Marc-Yvan Laroye told L'Usine Nouvelle. We're taking part in the European Life Zeus project, with the first zero liquid discharge in the food industry in Europe."
Co-financed by the European Union's LIFE programme for the environment and climate, and the Loire-Bretagne, Adour-Garonne and Rhône-Méditerranée-Corse Water Agencies, the Zero liquid discharge water reuse (ZEUS) project, officially launched in January 2022, aims to demonstrate the technical and economic feasibility of a total recycling solution for water and dissolved compounds, on the site of the MONIN factory (manufacturer of syrups) in Bourges.
