In a context of climate change with increasingly significant effects worldwide, the Conference on "Flood Risk Management" held in Madrid on 27 April last had as its central theme "Digital approaches for hydrological monitoring and forecasting in basin organisations".
Mr. Eric Tardieu, General Manager of OiEau and Secretary General of the International Network of Basin Organizations(INBO), created by our association in 1993, shared our expertise and analyses during a speech.
Indeed, through many tools and projects, INBO, a recognized public utility association, is committed to providing wide access to knowledge, a real tool for decision-making.
For example, the Glossary developed within the SANDRE framework will enable you to find precise definitions on a great variety of climatic phenomena. For example, the word flood is associated with the following definition: "slow or rapid submergence of installations or dwellings, linked to the overflow of underground or surface water, during a flood or runoff following rainy events.
This desire to promote access to information is also reflected in the publication of Newsletters.
Would you like to know more about the GEMAPI* tax (Management of Aquatic Environments and Flood Prevention), a local tax set up in France to provide municipalities with funds to manage and prevent flooding, through the development of catchment areas, the maintenance of watercourses, defence against the sea or restoration of wetlands?
