Tomorrow, Thursday 08 June, is World Ocean Day.
To mark the occasion, OiEau has produced a summary document presenting, in a few key figures, the impact of human activity on the vast expanses of salty water that cover a large part of the earth's surface.
This volume, whose water is constantly renewed by marine currents, provides numerous benefits to human beings. In return, our impact has negative, observable and quantifiable consequences on these oceans, which help to produce the oxygen we breathe, regulate the Earth's temperature and support most of our planet's biodiversity.
OiEau, an association recognised as being in the public interest, has made the promotion and sharing of knowledge one of its core missions, in a spirit of general interest and to inform the debate.
Indeed, reliable data can raise awareness and become genuine decision-making tools for all water users, including citizens, political decision-makers and economic players.
As we are wont to say, you can only manage what you know!
Dimitri Meunier, Director of Data - Knowledge Development - Information Systems at OiEau, presents a video on our association's approach to producing, developing and sharing knowledge.
