Ten Rivers - A review of Europe’s New Water Protection

The general objectives of the Water Framework Directive (WFD) should be achieved in all surface and groundwater bodies by 2015. After closely following the implementation of the Directive during the last more than 10 years EEB now takes a look at what the directive has achieved.
We have selected 10 large European rivers and looked at their current status as well as their situation.
