The topics of the 9th international IWA Conference on Biofilm Reactors to be held in Paris from May 28th to 31st are biofilm reactor technologies and other engineered systems that are influenced by biofilms. Most advances in understanding biofilm processes were accomplished as a result of biofilm research performed in lab-scale systems. Implementing these advances to the design and operation of full-scale reactors is not trivial and the rules for scale-up of biofilm processes are not clear. It is important to compare full-scale biofilm reactors performances with the expectations obtained from lab-scale reactors. This 9th IWA Conference on Biofilm Reactors aims at presenting the latest results from research and development within the field of Biofilm based Reactors.
